E.D.: Emotional Distractor

There are facets to most sites which will hold an emotional avoidance for the viewer. They can range from mildly distasteful to disgusting or horrifying. For the viewer, the session at hand becomes unimportant as he/she experiences the need to avoide such an experience. This must be dealt with before the viewer can continue the session. It is dealt with by conducting a thorough "set aside".

There are also times when an emotional distractor acts as an emotional attractor - much like the need people have to start at a horrible car wreck. When this happens, the viewer tends to become fixated on the unpleasant or horrible factors of the site. See also, "set aside".
